Rockin' Reviews: X-Men Days of Future Past!!! (And Last Post *tear*)
Hey, hey, hey Marvel fans! Last night I went to see X-Men Days of Future Past and I have a few things I would like to say about this movie. First off, let me just say wow wow wow to those centennial cgi's. This movie has everything an x-men movie should have: violence, sweet new mutants, comedy, and a good wolverine fight. In this movie the X-Men send Wolverine to the past in a desperate attempt to save the future and the fates of both mutants and humans. Besides the amazing plot, the acting was on point. *cough* Michael Fassbender *cough* .
Quicksilver, a new addition to the X-Men family, was played by none other than Evan Peters. The witty personality he put into Quicksilver was spot on, I loved every second he was on screen, and quite frankly I wish he had MORE screen time. As most people may or may not know the character Quicksilver will also be in Avengers: Age of Ultron, but is played by Aaron-Taylor Johnson. The weird thing about this is both we in the superhero movie Kick-Ass back in 2010. The question here is, who will play the part better?
Back on topic, the movie was everything I wanted it to be and more. Even the famous end credits scene was magnificent. I RECOMMEND YOU WATCH THIS MOVIE!
This will also be my very last post :( It's been great writing on this blog, and writing on a topic that I care so much about. Movies are more than just entertainment they are expression of self.

Story Time and Rockin' Reviews: Heaven is For Real
First off I had the privilege of going to see a special showing of it last April 10th. I won tickets to the early showing from my 3rd hour teacher Ms. Tran. some of the other people who won tickets were Luke Martin and Kayla Wright. Each Ticket allowed for two people admission. I immediately thought of taking my mom, who LOVES the book and is kinda obsessed with it, with me to be my date to the movie. We were so excited that we left an hour early to see the movie, but to our surprise that did us no good. First of all we got stuck in traffic on the highway because of a bad accident between a car a and a truck. Finally free from the the build up after 15 minutes we headed off to Star Theatre only to have of dreams crushed. They told us that the movie was sold out, and i understand that it does say (in small print) on the ticket that just because you have the ticket doesn't mean you will get in, but why would they print out more tickets to a showing than they can fit in their theatre!? After pleading with the lady she went to go check for any open seats and managed to find some for us in the very... front... row. Which we had no choice but to agree to.
NOW ON WITH THE REVIEW!
I you are not familiar with 'Heaven is For Real' it is based off a TRUE book of the same name. The book follows the life of the Burpos and their son named Colton who after going into surgery for a punctured appendix claims he went to heaven. Even though the Burpos and his Father Todd, a pastor at the local church, are a very Christian family they (along with the rest of the town) don't know if they believe Colton or not.
From a person that is not very religious like at all I can say that this movie is sincerely good. I liked it a lot. It's heart touching and has a bit of humor. I recommend all of you see it if you get the chance.

10 Year Anniversary of Mean Girls!
On Wednesdays we wear pink!
Today, April 30th, marks the 10 year anniversary of Mean Girls! If you haven't seen Mean Girls then you obviously don't go here....
It's hard to believe that after a decade Mean Girls is still highly thought of by just about everyone. It's popularity mostly comes from it's the quotable script written by Tina Fey, who says she was able to find funny in what was the victimization of young women in school, or maybe it's the very well acted characters.
Admit it, You can't say that this wasn't some of Lindsey Lohan's best work, and since her career took a turn for the worst a few years later this movie sort of acts as a time capsule to one of the proclaimed most promising young actors at the time.
You can see Mean Girls on just about any movie channel today, and now that Mean Girls has made it on to Netflix you can sit back, relax and have it one replay. This isn't the only media that has embraced this most gracious day. Social media took it upon themselves including the infamous haven for fandoms of all shapes and sizes, Tumblr, has dedicated posts and trended hashtags to celebrate this wondrous day!
So there is one last thing to ask.....
Who here has been personally victimized by Regina George?

MTV Movie Awards 2014!
Tonight is the night I've been waiting for all week..... the MTV Movie Awards! For those of you who don't know 'the awards' (this is what I will refer to as the MTV movie awards) are like a really big deal. Especially for us youngsters who don't necessarily care for the boring-ness of the Oscars. Not saying that I think the Oscars are boring but I know a lot of people do.
The awards are a fun way of rewarding those who made us laugh out loud, swoon over their shirtless-ness, cry for a million years, and much more. Some of the more MTV-ish categories this year include: best scared-as-sh*t moment, bets shirtless performance, and #wtf moment. If you want to know who I voted for let's just say Jessica Chastain, Sam Claflin, and Channing Tatum & Danny Mcbride.
And of course let's not for get about the Movie of the Year award! This years nominees are 12 Years Slave, The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Wolf of Wall Street, and American Hustle. I'm not surprised that these movies are in this categories. They are all great movies, and it took me a very long time to chose which one to vote for.
This year Conan O'brien will be the host which means this year should be too raunchy compared to past years and hosts. The pre-show starts are 8:30 p.m EST and The Awards start at 9:00 p.m EST. You wont want to miss this!

Frozen Mania!
If you haven't been living under a rock in the past 5 months you know that the craze with "Frozen" is far from over. "Frozen" has been hailed as one of the best movies of all time by it's insane fans which call themselves "frozenholics" who praise the film for its success, and they were right.
With it's premier in Japan last weekend "Frozen" has taken the title of "No. 1 Animated Film of All Time" of 1.072 billion worldwide box office sales from it's previous holder "Toy Story 3" of 1.06 billion worldwide box office sales.
This two-time Oscar winner joined the billion dollar club back in early march. Which in this case isn't too bad for the movie only being released for the first time back in late November. "Frozen" is playing in 36 countries including South Korea and Germany.
It's no surprise that "Frozen" is now the no. 1 animated film of all time. From day one of it's release the movies popularity was through the roof. In my opinion "Frozen" is a really great movie and deserves everything it's received.

Rockin' Reviews: Need For Speed
Last Saturday I went, on a whim, with my friend to see Need For Speed. We had expected the movie to be mediocre at best, but once again we were proved wrong.
Fresh out of prison young Tobey Marshall, a infamous street racer, is framed by a wealthy business associate for his friends death. Filled with revenge Tobey try's to beat Dino at his own game (or race in this case) the De Leon. Notified of this news Dino puts a bounty on Tobey's head just before the race begins.
This movie was tear jerking and adrenaline packed; I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. The amount of serious scenes and action scenes we mixed beautifully, one did not out shine the other. Aaron Paul was perfectly casted as Tobey Marshall, and I'm not just saying that because im a huge Breaking Bad fan. He delivered the revenge driven emotion to a perfect tee. Scott Mescudi's, famously kown as the rapper Kid Cudi, performance playing the role of Benny was not bad at all considering this was his first time acting.
This movie is the must see of march 2014!

Horribly Wonderful Movies!
There is nothing I love more than an underdog movie, and i'm going to list some movies that I quite enjoyed that were rated the worst! Each of the movies listed below have been cited by reputable critics in multiple reputable sources and IMDb users as among the worst films ever made.
- Master of Disguise
- Son of the Mask
- That's My Boy
- The Last Airbender
- Disaster Movie
When I found out that these were actually listed as the worst movies I was surprised due to the fact that I would actually include these movies on my favorites list! I guess this goes to show that you cant always trust what critics and other people say about movies. You should always watch a movie yourself before discarding it as a "bad" movie just because somebody else thought it was bad.

86th Annual Oscars Are Almost Here!
It's that time of the year again!
The 2014 Oscars are just around the corner, and this year, if played right, will be a game changer.
2013 was the year of ground breaking movies that stepped outside the ordinary films we are used to getting nominated. Examples of this are Her, 12 Years A Slave, and Gravity. Not to mention some very promising nominees for best actress/actor and best supporting actress/actor. This could finally be Leonardo DiCaprio's year! The seemly devious internet might not be too happy with that considering that means no more hilarious meme's and gifs jokes referencing DiCaprio's lack of an Oscar.
This years host will be Ellen DeGeneres, a big step up from last years Seth MacFarlane which was neither favored by the viewers or the celebrities. His jokes were immature and 'wrong' on so many levels, but luckily he stated he is 'defiantly not presenting the Oscars again'. This will be Ellen's second year hosting the Oscars. People loved her hosting in 2007 hopefully she will be a big hit again. The Oscars are going to be live March 2 on ABC at 8:30 p.m ET. The Oscars Red Carpet live will air at 7:00 p.m ET on ABC.
Here is a preview of some of the categories and nominees:

'Anchorman 2' returns to theaters with 763 brand new jokes!
A whole new R-rated version of film starring Will Ferrell will be back in theaters for a week-only release starting February 28th.
If you thought you've seen the best of Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd and Kristen Wiig, you thought wrong! It's not a complete surprise that a cast of gifted ad-libbers such as this one could remove and replace all the jokes in 'Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues' with a lot funnier and filthier ones.
The director of the film Adam McKay told The New York Times about this surprise alternate cut, which is basically an all new movie itself! Coming in at over two hours, whereas the original came in at under two hours, and now bumped up to rating R. The new "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues: Super-Sized R-Rated Version" is including 763 new jokes, 95 percent of the original comic material.
If you don't want to miss this one week only opportunity, get your butt into theaters February 28th - March 7th!

Rockin' Reviews: Ride Along
Last Saturday I went to go see the movie Ride Along starring Ice Cube and Kevin Hart.
I was a bit sketchy about going to see this movie at first since i'm not the biggest fan of Kevin Hart, but now after seeing it I have no regrets. This movie is HILARIOUS. Ben Barber, played by Hart, finally gets accepted into the police academy and decides this is the right time to propose to his girlfriend Angela Payton. Before he proposes he must ask for her police officer older brother's, James Payton played by Ice Cube, promising for his blessings. James is not a fan of Ben, and immediately shuts him down. Before James can leave Ben tells him he got into the academy. James takes this opportunity to put Ben through a series of tests a 'Ride Along' to see if he is worthy of his sister. You will come out of the theater with a smile on your face, and quote it with your friends for months!

Fat Amy and Beca are ready for more pitch-slapping in 'Pitch Perfect 2'

The sequel to 2012's a capella smash hit is set to hit theaters May 15, 2015. I know, 2015 seems like a million years away to me too; we've just got to hang in there! They aren't many details on the in progress film, but some of the cast have their own ideas on how to continue the Bellas vs. Treblemakers feud.
Bumper, leader of the Treblemakers, may have left to sing back up for John Mayer, but Adam DeVine shared with MTV that he has a few ideas of his own for his comeback.
"I pitched to Kay Cannon, who wrote the movie and is writing the second one as well, that I want to come back as a K-pop star," he said. "Like, maybe it didn't work in America, so I went over to Korea and just blew up. So we'll see if she took that to heart and wrote it in the next script."
While Beca's love interest, Jesse aka Skylar Astin, has a similar twist on the film in the multicultural direction for the sequel.
"I want everyone to go abroad. I want the whole thing to be international just so we can film in a really cool location, but also, I think it would be really cool to see different countries' perspective on a cappella," he said. " I think that would be really awesome. Because what do you do after you win nationals? You go international. That's my pitch."
The movie already sounds great if any of these ideas are put onto the big screen. I can't wait to actually watch the movie for myself in a year from now.

The Rock as new Green Lantern!?
It's been awhile now since the news came out that Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has been talking to Warner Brothers about a possible role in a DC movie, and now it looks like this news is becoming a reality,
Back in November Dwayne posted a picture that used the hashtag
#JohnStewartCanStillWhupSupermansAss
It's an hashtag innocent to some people, that is until they realize John Stewart is the name of one of the three most famous Green Lanterns. He also tweeted on New Years Eve
Due to Ryan Reynolds limp performance in the 2011 fantasy flick it's not a big stretch to think that DC is in the looks for a new Green lantern protagonist. I'm crossing my fingers for this to be true because The Rock would be amazing as the Green Lantern. His stride toughness will give the character some edge it was missing with Ryan Reynolds.

The Rock quickly tried post a tweet to deflect attention from the rumors, but a Superman/JLA- related hashtag is just to interesting to ignore.
